COST SAVING TIPS FOR PARENTS

INFANTS

BREAST FEEDING.  The best way to save money on infant care isto breast feed as long as you are able throughout infancy.  In addition to the nutritional benefits andimmune protection you will save money on the purchase of infant formula.

BABY WIPES.  Making your own baby wipes is a great costsaver.  Mix 2 Tbsp of baby soap, 2 Tbspolive oil[not necessarily extra virgin] with 2 Cups of water.  Cut aroll of paper towels in half the longway and put them into a baby wipe box. You then may pour the solution into the container with the towels or usethe solution in a spray bottle directly on each towel.

BABY FOOD.  Most baby foods may be prepared at homewith the exception of spinach, carrots and beets[due to nitratecontent]. Youmay either mash the foods directly like avocado and banana or puree the food ina blender with a small amount of either juice, broth or water.  Divide the pureed food into ice cube traysand freeze.  You can then remove cubes offood as needed.

Rapid transition from baby foods to mashed table foods anytime from 8 months on is another way to save on food costs.  Most babies love the tastes and textures oftable foods and it may make your family into healthier eaters.  The main caution is the risk of choking onparticle size, so be careful about that.
